# Managing Container Registry

A container registry provider is a service or platform that allows developers and organizations to store, manage, and distribute container images. Container registries are essential for container-based development and deployment, as they act as centralized repositories for storing container images, which are the packaged, standalone units of software that contain all the necessary dependencies to run an application.
